Bite 2022 Sustainability Report

Bringing effective sustainability to everyday routines

The viral sensation, Bite, has taken over the personal care market, with one mission in mind–to empower change one little bite at a time.

The sustainable hygiene company was created to show how our daily routines and lifestyles have an effect on our environment, from plastic tubes to brushes to harsh chemicals. Through their 5 pillars and core values, Bite has taken steps further in creating a clean future while reducing waste and aiding our planet. Their 2022 Sustainability Report outlines their impact, aid, and future endeavors for the company and the planet.

The Progress

Their three core values–do no harm, be obsessed, and make it work–have pushed their overarching mission and are highlighted within the report.

Assessed across the five categories/pillars, Bite received a 92.1% B Corp status score–

  • 100% of their carbon emissions were offset
  • 95% of their products were produced with clean ingredients–the remaining 5% was due to a product option offering fluoride
  • AND received a 91% employee satisfaction rating

Better Business—Governance

Bite became a Public Benefit Corporation, which is a legal designation that holds the company accountable for their customers and stakeholders.

They have focused their attention to the areas specified by said stakeholders–

  • Business Ethics, Product Design and Lifecycle Management
  • Product Quality & Safety
  • Customer Welfare, Selling Practices and Product Labeling

They are committed to continue upholding high standards by listening to and prioritizing the necessary feedback.

They commit to marrying community engagement & charitable efforts with their mission of reducing waste & cleaning the planet for future generations.

In 2022–

  • 4 hours were volunteered per employee on average
  • .5% of annual revenue was donated to charitable causes

Where Attention is Needed

The .5% donated to charity is going to have to be increased in years to come. Many of the company’s we have seen in previous reports have donated thousands to millions to charitable causes.

  • This percentage may be due to the company still being in its infancy, but once revenue, popularity, and customer consumption increase, we should hopefully see an increase in that percentage.
  • We should also be able to see a clearer definition of “career development” through programs, initiatives, or workshops–options that were not displayed in this year’s report.

The Upcoming Future

Future goals–

  • 100% of their products are to be produced with recyclable, biodegradable, or compostable materials
  • Reduce their carbon emissions by 3% annually
  • For their employees to used 100% of the allocated budget for career development

The UN Sustainable Development Goals–

  • SDG Alignment–aim to align their impact towards specific targets
  • SDG 8 Decent Work and Economic Growth–to achieve by 2030
