Reformation’s Q3 2021 Sustainability Report

One step closer to climate-friendly clothing

Reformation releases a quarterly sustainability report to increase accountability and transparency in their desire to create a fashion system that is circular and makes a positive impact. Their work centers on four main areas of sustainability: People, Planet, Product and Progress. From their suppliers and materials to garment care and upcycling, this brief outlines current efforts and progress.

Reformation uses a color-coded rating system for our supplier assessments and continuous improvement efforts. Currently, 44% of their Tier 1 facilities meet their standards.

They made some shoes with Cereal Leather, a USDA BioPreferred material and their 100% vegan leather alternative. Their Cereal Leather contains just 25% virgin plastic (the lowest amount in a market-ready material right now).

Reformation started working with NATIVA to source wool produced with regenerative practices and is 100% traceable back to the farm level.

They have their own Ref fiber standards that are as holistic as possible, taking into consideration water input, energy input, land use, eco-toxicity, greenhouse gas emissions, human toxicity, availability, and price.

Reformation started working with bluesign® to track and report chemical management and resource efficiency across their supply chain to reduce the impact on people and planet.

43% of their dyers and printers have a clean chemical certification for their materials.

7 of Reformation’s suppliers have attained a social responsibility certification (Fair Trade, SA8000, WRAP).

Launched a Carbon is Cancelled campaign leveraging a partnership with Arcadia offering $100 in Ref credit when customers switch to power their homes with 100% renewable energy.
