Surfboard covers are a lifesaver for any surfer who doesn’t live within walking distance of the beach, which, these days, is 99% of us. Strapping your favorite thruster, egg, or longboard to a car or loading it into a trunk packed with other gear without any protection is just asking for trouble.

“A few years back, I stumbled across a really cool knitting technology that was able to make a knit product without any seams,” says Clean Ocean Designs founder Oliver Parker. “I immediately realized the positive impact that this technical knitting machine was having by reducing its manufacturing waste to nearly zero.”

The first generation of Surf Knit Board Covers are made from recyclable polyester, while V2 is being produced from the nylon in old fishing line and will be available this summer. The resulting material is a 4-way stretch and isn’t flimsy like traditional terry cloth board socks. Made on a 3D knitting machine with no cutting and sewing, these products are machine washable and easy to maintain. They’ll stand up to sand, melted wax and last for years.
